I have my own battles with various weeds, although like you I do allow them to bloom on occasion, because after all who is to say what is, and what is not a weed?

I hope the weather hasn't been too bad for you recently - all work has stopped here, it's just too sodden all the time and water + heavy clay soil is never a good combo. So I'm beginning to feel frustrated, especially when I do pop out and there's so many things dying back which look dreadful and really need clearing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12357501.post-52624539871859086412013-10-17T17:16:49.771+01:002013-10-17T17:16:49.771+01:00I'm with Janet, having never hear of scutellar...I'm with Janet, having never hear of scutellaria before but I used to feel the same about Vinca - such a nuisance but so delicate and pretty! I sympathise with you losing the magazine reference; I do that with recipes all the time! I make a note of the ingredients, shop for them and then can't find the recipe! Sooo frustrating!! Hope it eventually comes to light!Carohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11317388242574705433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12357501.post-66911426578655068202013-10-17T10:48:59.389+01:002013-10-17T10:48:59.389+01:00I wish I had a yellow peril. I've grown quite a brash taste for my difficult front garden - and it would rise above the buttercups - they could fight it out together while delightfully clashing with the low lavender hedge which refuses to grow all the way along the front. (Why? If one side is ok how come it suddenly stops?) I've just planted two Scutellaria but they won't flower till next year now: S. baicalensis and S. incana. The incana is quite pale and the other should be quite dark.... we'll see! I like that colour combination, yellow and purple.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12357501.post-32284020675099088622013-10-16T19:05:13.183+01:002013-10-16T19:05:13.183+01:00I think this avoidance of a certain kind of yellow...I think this avoidance of a certain kind of yellow which so many of us exhibit must have some deep-seated spiritual connection, Anna - what do you think?! With yellow relating to the solar plexus chakra do you think its a self esteem issue?! ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12357501.post-51114213686871894872013-10-16T17:25:12.735+01:002013-10-16T17:25:12.735+01:00No need to eradicate it, it's quite charming, ...No need to eradicate it, it's quite charming, Anna, although I usually prefer lemon yellow as in Coreopsis Moonbeam. Pretty flowers, I can see it looking good with rich purple foliage. I hate it when I lose a magazine article on a combination I really like. I'm supposed to note them down as I come to them, but it just somehow never quite works...Janet/Plantaliscioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15605580157193047780noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12357501.post-26510313938207621132013-10-16T15:59:59.667+01:002013-10-16T15:59:59.667+01:00A lovely combination, they go so well together!A lovely combination, they go so well together!Paulinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16057764572761794703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12357501.post-71881703729890707842013-10-16T11:07:27.626+01:002013-10-16T11:07:27.626+01:00The Yellow Peril is just the thing to cheer us up ...The Yellow Peril is just the thing to cheer us up on dull days like today.
