Today is National Poetry Day. The theme for 2012 is stars ~
"Well it's a marvelous night for a Moondance,
With the stars up above in your eyes
A fantabulous night to make romance
'Neath the cover of the October skies
And all the leaves on the trees are falling
To the sound of the breezes that blow
And I'm trying to please to the calling
Of your heart-strings that play soft and low
And all the night's magic seems to whisper and hush
And all the soft moonlight seems to shine in your blush"
~ 'Moondance',Van Morrison,
I really love that song, but seeing the lyrics written down like that is so strange! I'd never noticed the connection to October before - thanks so much for opening my eyes to it! :D
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome Cathy. Seeing written song lyrics can sometimes come as a most welcome surprise or as an unpleasant shock :)
DeleteMy absolute favourite Van Morrison, thank you Anna!
ReplyDeleteHappy National Poetry Day.

A pleasure Jeanne. A belated Happy National Poetry Day to you but then I know you enjoy poetry all year round.
DeleteAhhh we left the church to this on our wedding day, being played (beautifully!) on a harp. Until our planning days I never knew a harp could play such a jaunty, jazzy piece with such depth. It gave us a real spring in our steps - as if we needed more!
ReplyDeleteOh what a perfect choice Sara - you must have danced down the aisle :)
DeleteThat's one of those songs which stays in your mind after you've heard it, I'll be humming it all weekend now.
ReplyDeleteMe too Jo :)
DeleteOne of my favourites - it is now playing in my head, which is usually really annoying but in this case, lovely. Good choice!
