A Poem For April

"I had not thought of violets of late,
The wild, shy kind that springs beneath your feet
In wistful April days."

~ Alice Dunbar - Nelson, 1875 - 1935

The illustration is 'The Dog Violet Fairy' by Cicely Mary Barker, 1895 - 1973

  5. I love the Flower Fairy illustrations. I keep saying that I'll buy the book, but it remains on the wish list.

  6. Lovely!
Now I'm dreaming of the secret little spot I know by a path in the woods where the wild purple violets grow in June. I wander in to visit them there every year. It's one of my favourite June rituals. *sigh* :)

  7. And finally I know exactly what dog tooth violets look like because I have inherited loads! Haven't eaten any yet though...
