    1. Welcome Jenny - so glad that you have come out into the sunshine to comment :) They were indeed incredibly tall and I wish that I had been able to ask the gardener of the house just what they had been fed on. Will be over to visit you soon.

    1. I would have asked the gardener of the garden it was growing in how tall it was Jo but did not have an opportunity to do so :)

  5. Amazing! Are you sure they weren't magic seeds and there isn't a giant at the top somewhere?!

    1. Maybe the seeds had been dusted with magic Su but no giant in sight :)

    1. Thanks Annette. These sunflowers were not in our garden I'm sad to say but in the garden of the campsite in Shropshire where we recently stayed for a couple of nights.

  7. Astonishing, Anna - but quite ugly in their hugeness, don't you think? ;)

    1. Oh no ugliness Cathy as far as I was concerned - their sunny faces on a rainy day were so cheery and their size a great talking point :)

  8. Wow, that's staggering! I forgot to sow sunflowers this year in time, apart from the diminutive Vanilla Ice, we're definitely missing them. Sara

    1. Me too Sara - will have to remedy that omission when it comes to the next lot of seed orders :)

  9. I guess we've all sown the seeds of 'Russian giant', probably when we were schoolkids. I suppose there's a kick to be had in growing a large beast like this.

    1. Great fun for kids Rob and a real show stopper on a camp site. I imagine that sunflowers would do well in your neck of the woods :)
