A slightly naughty vase from me today in the shape of a recent supermarket purchase made when I was feeling very much in need of some instant sunshine. I rarely buy flowers from a supermarket or florist these days but occasionally make an exception.
Sunshine seems to have been in very short supply this last week with three named winter storms more or less in succession. There has been much in the way of gales and heavy rain. The latest and let's hope last one 'Franklin' raged furiously for a good part of yesterday, throughout the night and well into this afternoon. I was rather deprived of sleep but am glad to say that apart from a good bit of twiggy debris and the odd snapped tree branch there was nothing serious in the way of damage. I hope that everyone who was in its wake escaped its full wrath. It looks as if these intense storms are likely to feature more regularly in the future because of global warning. A most sobering thought. Thanks as always to Cathy, over at 'Rambling In The Garden', who provides a platform for us to share our vases on Mondays come storms or sunshine.
Aw, sorry to hear that Franklin has been disturbing your sleep and I hope you ahve a calmer night tonight. Hopefully the inspection of your minimal damage and purchase of these cheery daffs will give you a boost and restore some equilibrium
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy 😀 Franklin really took the biscuit!
DeleteIts terrible when you can't sleep well for several nights on the trot. As you say some sunshine would be welcome. Today it brightened up this afternoon, and I was in the garden. Your bunch of daffs is certainly a good pick you up.
ReplyDeleteI find the odd sleepless night bad enough Noelle let alone a run of them. At least these days I don't have to get up to go to work 😂
DeleteWe've heard about some of those fierce storms even here, Anna! I'm glad you escaped with relatively little damage. I'd be looking for some sunshine under those circumstances too!
ReplyDeleteIt's been the same way here, Anna, so your vase brought me welcome sunshine indeed. Nothing compared to the storms we had when we were living in Ireland though, where our Bangor roof tiles regularly flew about (very dangerous as they were the size of a table top). Did you know that we're going towards a new Ice Age? I find that rather worrying because it is much more difficult to cope with cold than warm weather and I hate the cold. But then I shan't be around anymore, thankfully Spring is definitely in the air, that gives us hope. The owls go mad these days.
ReplyDeleteI thought that you had some really early daffodils. The wind is still fierce here.
ReplyDeleteNow that is a vase of sunshine!!
ReplyDeleteThey are a great way to raise spirits Anna. I have been buying myself tulips for about three weeks now, to satisfy my craving for some colour! I do hope the storms will be over for you soon… I think we have another one on the way now, so March could come in like a lion…..
ReplyDeleteThey made the headline news here Kris and spread into Holland, Belgium and further afield too 😢 We were lucky here - no serious damage, just a lot of twiggy debris to clear up.
