IAVOM ~ Simply Yellow

I peered out early this morning to be greeted by blue skies and glorious sunshine, so my vase this week is just shades of yellow to celebrate a fine start to the day. The little daffies are at their peak now so they seemed just fitting. In my vase are narcissus 'W.P. Milner', 'Jenny', 'Gypsy Queen' (so petit that she is hidden from view) 'Elka' and the bright yellow of 'TΓ©te-Γ -TΓ©te'. The paperweight has been with me since my teenage years but when exactly remains a mystery. The sun and blue skies gave way to grey and a good shower this afternoon but tomorrow's forecast is encouraging. As always thanks for Cathy over at 'Rambling In The Garden' who encourages us to share our flowers and foliage every Monday come rain or shine.

  1. A very cheerful display, Anna! Although my paperwhites bloomed early and are already gone, as is typical in my climate, the larger-flowered daffodils seem late this year. Maybe they're just waiting for more rain but, in that case, I may not see them at all this year.

  2. What a useful vase, Anna, with the holes in the lid - or is it an insert? They look just the right size and spacing to usefully support stems, which isn't always the case. And a sunny vase to reflect your sunny day too Walo wall blue skies and sunshine here too, but I think we are due a chilly night as pay-back

    1. Holes in the lid Cathy - in fact it has more holes than I used πŸ˜‚ These cold nights could be around for a while longer but well worth the sunny days.

  3. These are pretty, Anna. I especially like the daffodil with the pale yellow trumpet. The paperweight fits right in. Nice to have that treasure from your teens.

    1. Yes it's lovely to have this memento of my teenage years Susie - just wish my older grey matter could remember how and when it entered my life!

  4. A perfect match, Anna, spreading happiness and optimism. I've read that W.P. Milner is suitable for naturalising - can you confirm this? I have to replant daffs this autumn as some have disappeared. Enjoy the fine weather, it's extremely windy here, my daffs are being beaten about. Take care xx

    1. Oh your poor daffies - hope that the winds soon subsided Annette. I wish I could tell you whether W.P. Milner would naturalise but my experience of this bulb has been limited to growing it in pots. I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't but I'm sure that a good bulb catalogue or website would give you that information.

  5. Such an enchanting vase of mixed daffodils, and the blue skies, we definitely welcome those too. How nice that you have been able to keep such a pretty paperweight for all this time.
