IAVOM ~ Jumping For Joy!

It's time for what must be one of the world's contenders for the smallest vase (with the exception of a vase that you might find in a doll's house). You may not think that it looks particularly small but I have zoomed in it so it doesn't just disappear from sight. In it is a trio of the little viola' Peach Jump Up'. I much prefer violas to their bigger pansy relatives. These were bought from a local garden centre in the autumn and are now doing a good job as toppers in containers of daffodils and hyacinths.

Thanks as always to Cathy who blogs over at 'Rambling In The Garden' who encourages us to share our vases each and every Monday. It's always a joy to see what is in other participant's vases.

Here after a couple of false starts spring has is definitely here - hedgerows and trees are flushing pale green, blossom seems to be everywhere and the daffodils are resplendent. Seed sowing has started in earnest. More sunshine than grey, more warmth than cold and finally after a so far most dry March we had a decent spell of much needed rain at the weekend. Without a doubt my favourite time of year!

  1. The 'Peach Jump-up" Viola is one of my favorites. They may be small but they have a presence! I always plant some - this year, they occupy the base of a pot containing Dutch Iris. Best wishes for a happy spring, Anna.

  2. I am with you on preferring violas to pansies, Anna, and your teeny vase is so cute. It always surprises me how long it takes for them to begin flowering regularly, though, only just making an impact now after being bought in the autumn, like yours. I have purple ones in my baskets at the front

  4. I love Violas, too. Do you call them Johnny Jump Ups in the UK? My mother did. I always love your vases.. Amelia

  5. That's a cutie! I love the colors of the Violas: so bright and optimistic. I'm a huge fan of Violas and Pansies, alike. Happy Spring!

  6. A perfect little pot of joy! The Violas, 'Jonny Jump Ups' to me are so tough popping up in flower after the snow.

  7. Ah, how sweet Anna. I also prefer violas to the larger pansies that tend to go all floppy and get spoilt by the rain. Mine have just about recovered from the winter now too and are 'jumping up' again, no doubt for joy! Your tiny vase just goes to show how much pleasure tiny flowers can give in the early days of spring. It sounds as if you are way ahead of us though… still waiting for blossom and Forsythia to bloom here, but at least that north wind has gone for now!
