" Small Is Beautiful"

W IS FOR?
WHAT A WHOPPER!

When it comes to the world of fruit and vegetable growing I find that there are constant sources of wonder. The above strawberry to which himself's finger points was certainly a winner as far as size goes. I was almost lots for words when I saw it. I picked these at the weekend with a few raspberries and they were a most welcome addition to our tea. Not surprisingly though its wee companions were much more tasty.

Why not wither over to ABC Wednesday for more on the letter W?

  3. It's like those little alpine strawberries that just seem to turn up, small but sweet.

  4. WOW that's an amazing haul you have there. I picked mine and my daughters today and made 9 pot's of strawberry jam and still have 3 punnets left. The jam hasn't cooled yet, but looks a bit runny !! I hope it sets properly when it's cold. It's ages since I made strawberry jam, so fingers crossed it will be OK.

  8. That's one big strawberry and very fresh! We imported them from overseas as we can't grow them here well due to our hot weather.

  13. Delicious reds in this shot, Anna. Thought the whopper was you telling fibs that you had grown them but they look sooo much tastier than what's on offer in the supermarkets. What is the variety?

  14. I've found this to be true too. Although the bigger ones might look prettier, it's the smaller ones that taste better. Great photo!
