A Poem For March

"For winter's rains and ruins are over,
And all the season of snows and sins ;
The days dividing lover and lover,
The light that loses, the night that wins;
And time remembered is grief forgottem,
And frosts are slain and flowers begotten,
And in green underwood and cover
Blossom by blossom the spring begins."

  1. Those little irises look so pretty. I planted some up in containers in autumn but they haven't flowered yet.

  2. I'm the same as Jo - mine just refuse to flower - spring seems a long way off at the moment we are in the middle of blizzards right now.

  3. Lovely iris, are they in your garden, they're beautiful!

  4. I don't think that winter's snow and rains and ruins are quite over, or that frosts are completely slain, but I am sure we are all working on it! The irises are lovely though!

  5. Nicely optimistic, though flying in the face of the weather today, which was horrendous! Lovely photo.

  6. They are so sweet. When I see spring elsewhere I am filled with hope. The pussywillows are opening here and that will have to sustain me. :)

    Love the poem!!

  7. I love it - blossom by blossom the spring begins! It feels just like that too. The little flowers of spring bring so much hope don't they. I love the colour of those iries. I think they get my 'flower of early spring' award this year.
