'Ch-ch-changes'

Watering cans in Le Jardin De Marie Ange, Pas- De-Calais, France.

Somewhere in cyberspace greentapestry celebrated its fifth birthday yesterday. I wonder if it floated past that famous Doctor and waved as both celebrated auspicious occasions on the same day. Actually the very first words on this blog were back in 2005, but it was only in 2008 when I was brave enough to enter the public domain. I can still remember the excitement of receiving my very first comment from the lovely Michelle over at Veg Plotting. Many thanks to everyone who has commented or contacted me by email over the last five years. I've learned so much from your comments and observations, laughed a good deal and have been the recipient of some lovely acts of kindness.

I've been mulling over the blog recently and feel that it's time for some out of season 'spring cleaning'. So I'm going to use the winter months to get on with this and hope to re-emerge with a new look. I'm even considering going over to the other side ie Wordpress so would be grateful for any comments or advice on doing that. I also want to get to grips with the pages element of the blog. These were constructed an oh so embarrassingly long time ago but I've never completed them.

So if I disappear off the radar for a while or if appearance of the blog looks a bit iffy you will know what's happening. I intend to be around for the memes that I participate in and I will of course still be visiting other blogs. Many thanks again and a humungous virtual bouquet of fabulous flowers to anybody who reads this post.

PS Many apologies to those of you who have problems commenting recently and thanks for your persistence. I've changed my comment settings to see if that makes any difference and am keeping fingers crossed.

  1. Good luck.

I sometimes think perhaps I should change over to W Press - If you do, I'll be mega interested to see how you find it.

  3. Happy fifth year blog anniversary Anna! And looking forward to the changes you'll be making :) our blog is a hybrid between blogger and wordpress so that's an option to explore as well.

  4. Happy fifth!
Aside from odd niggles I've never had a problem with Wordpress. I find it a doodle to use and very flexible with lots of plugin options and a huge variety of themes, free and paid for.
I don't know how easy it is to move your 'history' across though, assuming you'd want to do that. A hybrid might be the solution.
Look forward to seeing what emerges!

  5. Congratulations on your 5th birthday, Anna. I'm proud to have been your first commenter. I'm interested in why you're contemplating a move - I use both and there sre pros and cons to each. It's easy to move your blog over, but you're likely to lose readers along the way...

  8. Hi Anna - well done on your 5 years. Do you look back over what you have written during that time? I do wonder about having a printed copy of mine for easy reference and for posterity but haven't had time (that's the trouble with being retired - there is no time for anything!)yet. If you want any support with WordPress I can help you with the odd twopennyworth, as long as it is not too technical - I have no idea about a hybrid blog, though!Glad you will still be around :)

  11. Hi Anna. You started blogging at the same time I did--November of 2008. So happy blogaversary to both of us. Your blog looks wonderful but it's fun to upgrade and try new things. I hope you enjoy the process.

  14. Congratulations - and good luck with the changes. I really like wordpress, it seems to provide a good range of themes and twiddles and so far have less 'issues' than blogger seems to. Hopefully your winterclean will be fun rather than a chore.

  15. Congratulations Anna! And that is a lovely green tapestry photo. I really like wordpress. I know you can lose readers and google page ranks if you move to a wordpress.com blog, but with plenty of warning to your readers I am sure you won't lose anybody who actively follows you. If you plump for a self hosted wordpress blog there is a way of doing it where you don't lose anything at all, its a bit techy but I can talk you through it if you want, it is what I did. Good luck with playing around, whether you stay or go, and look forward to your next 5 years!

  17. Congratulations, Anna, on your blog reaching 5 years old! I really wish I got over to visit you more often than I have in the last year. Good luck with your blog revamp. I enjoy doing that too.

Occasionally I’ve wondered about WordPress but I do believe there is more to get the hang of initially. After you do, I believe it is perhaps a more creative space. That’s what I think I’ve heard ;-)

Wishing you a great weekend and a good 6th year blogging year ahead :-D
