In A Vase On Monday ~ If Today Had Been Yesterday

If today had been yesterday there would not have been an 'In A Vase On Monday' offering here. Fortunately Sundays's frequent showers of blustery sleet, snow and nasty hard pellety white polystyrene balls have given way to a much brighter, calmer day although it's definitely still on the cool side out there.

I resisted the urge to snip any snowdrops today although I have to confess to being sorely tempted. In my vase (a milk jug in a former life) are some hellebore flowers, winter flowering heather, viburnum tinus 'Lisa Rose' and foliage in the shape of lonicera nitida. The hellebore is one of those happy accidents that happen when a seedling appears in a most unlikely spot. I debated whether to remove it when it first made its presence known but it was left in place where it continues to grow against the odds. I have just noticed when bringing my nose near to the vase that the viburnum is most gently but pleasantly scented.

Many thanks to our hostess Cathy over at 'Rambling In The Garden' who hosts a quite fabulous gathering of vases from far and wide each Monday.

  1. Oh Anna I adore the colors in your vase.....and I can understand not wanting to snip the snowdrops....I can't wait to see my hellebores and snowdrops!

  2. I'm glad the weather improved for you today. It was the opposite here, yesterday was very sunny (although also very cold) and today is grey and so it feels even colder. Your Hellebore is gorgeous, but then most of them are!

  3. You have proved that there are plants can provide lovely material for a small arrangement. Jugs are an also a go to container...very pretty.

  4. How fresh and pretty that looks, Anna, and the pink tones of the viburnum reflect the hint of pink in the hellebores too. Does the jug really say 'boo'? Sadly, I suspect it doesn't! And I am glad yesterday wasn't today as it would have been a shame to miss out on this vase!

  5. The hellebore is such a pretty color, and perfect with the delicate tones of the heather and viburnum. I'm glad your weather is improving and look forward to seeing your snowdrops in the future.

  6. This is very sweet and lovely that it smells good too. We had the polystyrene balls too yesterday and then sun in turns!

  7. A very pretty hellebore Anna. We have had some of those wintry showers today, but with lovely bursts of sunshine in between!

  8. We have hellebores popping up in unwanted places too but I am loathe to remove them.
