Garden Bloggers Bloom Day ~ January 2016

It's so c-c-c-cold out there this morning - the ground is peppered with some sort of white precipitation which may have included the odd snowflake or two. The jury is still out on this. Before gloves became an item of vital clothing, I nipped into the greenhouse to take a photo of my newest special snowdrop. It only arrived last week and which is the source of much pleasure. This is galanthus 'Trumps' which I've killed off at least once before. I was talking to a good gardening friend about it recently and confessed to two previous murders of the same bulb but now think my memory has got snowdrops confused so I'm not a serial killer yet. Anyway fingers crossed that this one is in for a long life.

I mentioned in my last post that I am giving away one bulb of galanthus 'Wendy's Gold'. This is a snowdrop which I've managed to nurture for several years now. It seems to be a tough customer and clumps up well. If you would like to be entered for the giveaway all you need to do is comment on my last post here by the end of the day on Sunday 17th January. Sadly I can only post to UK bloggers in this instance.

Thanks as always to the lovely Carol over at May Dream Gardens who provides us with the opportunity to share our blooms each month. The pen and notebook are already to hand.

  1. I do hope Trumps survive - it's a looker!

  2. I have had Trumps in the garden for 3 yrs now and it is increasing nicely, hope yours does too!

  3. It is a special one isn't it. I do love the markings on the different snowdrop varieties. It's a flower I so admire but knew I was wasting money and the plant by bringing it to my garden (I'm always moving plants around). Your previous post on keeping them as a collection by keeping them in pots in your greenhouse is (I'll say it again) a great idea. Enjoy Trumps and Happy GBBD :-)

  4. Which is your favourite snowdrop or does this one 'Trump' all others? (Sorry)

  5. Gosh, do you think you could choose a favourite, Anna, as Brian asked? Or is it always the newest one...?! ;)I am sure I couldn't choose although there will always be some I am more fond of than others. How lovely to have Trump which I am sure you will nurture excessively and not risk a further murder charge...

  6. It's a lovely snowdrop, I hope it survives for you. I think winter is definitely here now after a mild start, we had snow over the weekend but it didn't hang around long, thank goodness.

All your comments are much appreciated and treasured. I wil try to reply to everyone who leaves a comment, but it may take me a few days, especially when I start spending more time in the garden and at the lottie. I know that you will understand :) I am sure that I will also visit your blog if I have not already done so. If you have any specific questions I will either reply to them here or you can email me at :
