Keeping the single stem of 'Boscabel' company are :
- More roses in the shape of 'Blush Noisette' - the flowers in this photo are looking paler than they do to the naked eye.
- Astrantia - variety long lost in the mists of time.
- Some dark foliage in the shape of physocarpus opulifolius - 'Diablo' I think.
- Soft blue scabious flowers from a perennial, which came with the label scabiosa 'Irish Perpetual Flowering' but which apparently also goes under the name of scabiosa 'Butterfly Blue'.
- Spires of linaria purpurea also known as purple toadflax. It is what might be called a generous self seeder.

Blogland seems to be in a temperamental mood at the moment. Blogger has stopped emailing comments directly to me and for the last few days I've found myself unable to comment on Wordpress blogs. I'm getting a message to say that I'm not logged into my Google account but I am! I do have a Wordpress account so will have to log on to that and see what transpires.
Thanks as always to the lovely Cathy who so ably steers the good ship that is 'In A Vase On Monday'. Enjoy your week and your plot of earth.
P.S. I'm unable to comment on Cathy's latest post at the time of writing using either of my dramatis personae. I will return later in the day to see whether I fare any better.

Absolutely stunning....roses with purple blooms makes for a late spring/early summer vase. Lots of purple, pink and roses in my garden too!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your visit and comment Donna. Glad to hear that you're enjoying the roses too :)
DeleteWonderful vase of flowers and indeed it's a good year for the roses.....
ReplyDeleteThank you Janneke - I think that the roses are happy lapping up the sunshine this summer.
DeleteWhat a lovely mix of blooms, Anna, all in such soft shades and very summery looking. I can't imagine what that lemonade tastes like although not being partial to anything fizzy I may never find out. Don't know this song, Anna, as it was ahead of my time!! but I shall try to find time to listen to it :)See you soon
ReplyDeleteThe lemonade actually has a taste of rose about it Cathy as it contains rose oil. I'm not a big fan if fizzy drinks either but this is one I enjoy. Hope that you managed to find time to listen to a song from another era :)
DeleteI've long dreamed of creating a bed mixing soft peach and lavender colors and your bouquet captures the essence of what I'd like to see, Anna. Captivated as I was by the arrangement, I was also interested to see the bottle of rose lemonade - that sounds wonderful! As to Blogger, Goggle seems to have made a lot of changes in what it supports and what it doesn't these days. I've had to adjust my settings in response and don't have the options I once had.
ReplyDeleteOh I hope that you get to create that bed Kris. Interested to read your comments on Blogger which is rather challenging at times :)
DeleteI’ve noticed that lemonade at NT establishments. I’ve have lemonade with ginger from the same company. The rose is a lovely colour. I am still having the email problem with Blogger. They seem to be taking their time resolving the problem
ReplyDeleteI will have to look out for the lemonade and ginger flavour Sue :) The email issue is dragging on and not at all helpful when the odd spam comment gets through :(
DeleteA beautiful vase and still life as always, dear Anna, so evocative of your romantic soul! Love Austin roses although they can be giddy enough in prolonged rain but hopefully now we're in for a spell of summer. I agree though it has been a fantastic year for roses.
ReplyDeleteOh what lovely words Annette - you've made me smile. I hope that you are going to get a decent spell of summer weather.
DeleteIt is a beautiful rose and beautifully supported by your other choices. I have similar problems with Blogger on a regular basis and many sites now don't 'remember' me so I have to fill in the details every time which is why I usually comment on those blogs from my pc rather than my phone or iPad (hence often being late responding to you).
ReplyDeleteOh filling in your details again and again is so annoying Christina. I have to do that regularly on one or two blogs so sometimes late with my responses too. It's always nice to hear from you whenever you reply :)
DeleteRose Boscabel is a gorgeous colour. The scabiosa and astrantia are beautiful companions for it too. :) I have also noticed recent changes... when I comment on blogspot blogs there is no wordpress to select any more.
ReplyDeleteYes she is a gorgeous colour indeed Cathy. These changes are such a pain. You wonder why the blogging platforms don't have a good chat with each other and iron out all these issues.
DeleteThank you for the link Anna. I’m glad you are enjoying Boscobel as much as I am. It’s a fabulous rose. Much to my horror the bunnies have just discovered they like eating roses. It’s all out war here now!
ReplyDeleteOh thanks for the recommendation Jessica. I'm so pleased with my new rose :) Oh no that is bad news on the bunny front :( I saw one just outside the allotment gates this morning and treated it too a dirty look.
