- Stems of cornus sanguinea 'Anny's Winter Orange'.
- Stems of pittisporum' Silver Ball'.
- Flowers from one of my favourite snowdrops with the unfortunate name of 'Trumps'. I think that the snowdrop preceded the politician or certainly his arrival on the world's political stage. It has distinct green markings on the outside, flowers early and has clumped up well in the garden.
Thanks to Cathy over at 'Rambling In The Garden' for inviting us to share our vases little and large, whatever the weather or the season. Here another named winter storm is waiting in the wings for tomorrow but the weather gods are are promising to be more kind at the weekend. I'm looking forward to it!
Sweetness. It's so encouraging when bloggers begin to post about what people in my locale consider "spring" blooms. Happy IAVOM. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Beth π I imagine that we must be a bit ahead of you as snowdrops are one of our first winter flowers and in my garden are usually over by mid- March at the latest. Glad to be giving you encouragement that yours are not so far away.
DeleteYes, Trumps is one of my best do-ers too, Anna - but not enough blooms for me to pick! π€£ (although I have lifted a couple of bulbs to sell when we open). I added Anny here after seeing yours in recent years, but it is still fairly small so I won't be cutting that yet either. I look forward having a teeny vase with snowdrops in sometime soon, as yours in your little inkpot is utterly charming π
ReplyDeleteThank you Cathy. 'Trumps' is one of my favourites although they are all quite lovely. I'm sure that it will soon disappear from your sales table π
DeleteOh so lovely with that corpus against the snowdrops. Nasty storms on many continents this winter. I was hoping to see my snowdrops soon as I planted a bunch against the house to give them a warm early spot to bloom. But the ground won't thaw until midweek. But maybe they will still show.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly seems to be a winter of storms this year Donna ☹️ They sometimes seem to appear overnight so you never know ...... π€
DeleteI love the delicate colors of your arrangement, Anna. I'll even forgive the snowdrops their unfortunate name - it's unfair to associate something so pretty with someone so crude.
ReplyDeleteThe snowdrop in question is totally innocent Kris unlike some π
DeleteAnna, your snowdrops are wonderful and do not deserve a name so unpleasant. Cornus stems are a great addition.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susie. Unfortunately the snowdrop was named before a certain person became so prominent πΏ
DeleteI love the Cornus and have always wanted one! To no avail. The variety of Pittosporum and Snowdrops continues to amaze me. I am glad Isha wasn't too bad. Amelia
ReplyDeleteOh what a shame Donna. They're easily available over here in a number of colours. Thanks for your concern about storm Isha - here the next storm 'Jocelyn', a couple of days later bought stonger winds with it. Fortunately our house and garden escaped unscathed π
DeleteSnowdrops are pretty. We have had also storm here in Finland, and ice on streets, its bad.
ReplyDeleteThank you Anna π Most of the storms that affect us usually blow in the direction of Scandanavia afterwards and I imagine must be even more severe. Hope that you are keeping warm and cosy despite the weather.
DeleteAbsolutely delightful Anna! The snowdrop is a nice reminder that spring is on the way. Hope the next storm isn't as bad as the last one… I think we are getting the tail end of Isha tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteYes spring is certainly getting nearer π I hope that Jocelyn didn't come over in your direction top Cathy as she was even fiercer! π€
DeleteI noticed for the first time today that in the garden my snowdrops are finally nodding through. I am delighted! So, having seen your gorgeous little vase filled with them, I am going to find one or two and bring them in - they to me are the portent of spring to comeπ€π
ReplyDeleteComing up trumps from the bridge players (no nasty orange trumpet thanks)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Diana, definitely alluding to a 'winning hand' or rather a 'winning snowdrop', I really like the heart shape marking.
ReplyDeleteOur first snowdrops have made an appearance
