Feeling Sheepish

J IS FOR ?

JUST SUPERLAMBANAS!

These appealing creatures were much in evidence locally during 2008, when the city of Liverpool held the title of Liverpool Capital of Culture. I was annoyed with myself for never having my camera with me to photograph the pair that graced our local railway station. However luck was on my side and I was delighted to see them return this summer. The goofy looking one makes me smile and its friend has a particularly local touch. The bridge you can see painted on its flanks is a representation of our local landmark - a bridge that crosses the river Mersey.

Just jump over to ABC Wednesday, hosted by Denise Nesbitt for more jollies on the letter J.

  1. The variety of public art is amazing, across the globe. These are whimsical and fun to see.

  2. Baaaa! I love this kind of art. I think Chicago has something similar with cows and somewhere had it with benches, and... too cool! Now where's me paintbrush?

  5. Driving home today, we had to wait for a flock of sheep to move along the road into a new field. Pausing to nibble leaves off the olive trees and grape vines

  7. Hi Anna~~ At first my discerning brain is thinking, what the....? Then the right brain kicks in and I see the cute faces and the fabulous artwork. A bit quirky and adorable...not an easy combination to pull off but done exceptionally well with these humble Superlambanas.

  9. These are certainly interesting-looking creatures, though it took me awhile to realize what they were:) Reminds me of the painted and decorated cows that were all over the city of Chicago a few years ago.

  10. Clever - I like the art involved and the colors. Here we have a series of painted moose that hang around sidewalks and such.
