My Pride And Joy

G IS FOR?

GREENHOUSE!

"Who loves a garden, loves a greenhouse too"
~ William Cowper,1731 -1800.

This is my new greenhouse late last November, when it was in the last stages of being a work in progress. Himself put it all up with a small contribution from me. I can't begin to explain the excitement I feel whenever I look at it or set foot inside. The wooden benches were handcrafted by himself for my former greenhouse. Although they are a bit on the short side for their new home I could not bear to part with them. I would like to say that the greenhouse is burgeoning with seedlings but alas this is not the case yet. My seed sowing has got off to a slow start this year. However I hope to report more soon on what's going on in the inner depths of my second residence.

Why don't you go over to ABC Wednesday now for more posts on the letter G.

  4. Anna, I am still green with envy - it is a beautiful greenhouse, and I really like the staging.

But no seed-trays? Half term has been and gone!

  6. Anna:
A most delightful greenhouse, and with those sentimental hand rendered and crafted benches, himself is always close at hand. A splendid break in the weather here - sunny skies supposed to last all week!

  9. Not green fingered myself, so I don't go into greenhouses very often, but I like what comes out of them

  13. What a lovely greenhouse, and a great size too. Mine's only 6X4 so a little on the small size, but I still manage to use it for all sorts of things. I would love a bigger one but I don't have the room. Your benches are fab too, I wouldn't have parted with them either.

  14. Dear Anna, How wonderful to own such a splendid glasshouse. It really looks professional and, of course, made absolutely special with the handmade potting benches. The trouble with such wonderful places such as this is that one may never wish to come out. I am sure that it will bring you joy!

  18. That is indeed a glorious greenhouse. I love the color and it's just the right size--not too big but not too small. That would be my pride and joy, too!

  19. Anna, A fine looking glass house if I ever saw one. I'm totally jealous. Not to worry about seed starting - you have time! This has been a long, cold Winter, hasn't it? Have fun playing in the dirt!

  20. Oh Anna, it is the apple of any gardener's eye, your greenhouse! I am in love with the shelves as well, they seem the perfect height, but then, I am on the short side. We await seeing the burgeoning seedlings in there among other things. :-)

  21. I can understand your excitement, Anna! I would love to have a greenhouse, but we have such fierce winds here at times in the spring that one might not last long here. I bet you can't wait to get out there and fill it up with seeds trays.

Loved your Muse Day poem--and it fits the greenhouse post as well! Amazing the miracles that reside in each little seed.

  25. Anna ~~ Kudos to Himself. It gives me a thrill too. Yesterday Costco had a greenhouse on display. I opened the door and walked in...dreaming and lusting. Since it's not in the budget for this year I'll enjoy yours vicariously, if you don't mind.:)

  26. Oh Anna, your greenhouse is just lovely. And, all the more special because it and the benches inside were crafted with loving hands. Himself is certainly a keeper! ;) I look forward to seeing your greenhouse bursting at the seams with new seedlings and other treasures.

  28. A grand second residence indeed.

I don't have a greenhouse but it's on the list.

I guess with this years winter all seed sowing etc. is a little later.

  29. Oh Anna, I confess to being very jealous!! What a sweet glass room... your greenhouse will be a joy to see anytime. As for the spaces left over from your older lovingly crafted shelves ... I am sure you will find the perfect fitting fillers. Happy seeding!! ;>)
