Garden Bloggers' Bloom Day - April

Posted by Picasa

April sees some of my favourite plants in full fettle especially pulmonarias -I love those spotty leaves which sparkle both before and after the flowers are done and dusted. Other flowers pictured above include a clematis alpina, narcissus 'Thalia' in the company of some little forget-me-nots, dicentra alba and brunnera 'Looking Glass'. One or two tulips have now opened as well as the first geranium phaeum but it was rather camera shy. Today's predicted warm temperatures may encourage the clematis montana to show her first flowers in the rain. Please click on the collage for the bigger picture :)

Garden Bloggers Bloom Day is hosted by by Carol at

  3. Anna Delightful collage. I to love Pulmanaria but so does Beth our dog and she eats them so they have a struggle to survive these days where once they were over grown. Ah well that's gardening.

  5. I didnt include my Brunnera, Pulmonia and Bleeding Heart as the photos were out of focus!!! Think I should have gone for your approach of the whole plant rather than trying to photo the individual flowers

  8. Wow, those are early-flowering clematis! I may be replacing my sad sick armandii so will look into those as possibilities. I just planted a pulmonaria and think I'm going to have to get more, since as you say the foliage is even more interesting than the flowers. Happy Bloom Day!

  9. Anna, I love your poster/collage. While the technical aspect is great (and I want to do this, too), the plant combinations are lovely! The alpine clematis, the brunnera, heuchera...I can list them all...so will you accept that i think they are grand! gail

  15. I have a pink bleedng heart that I love.. but gets quickly too large for its space.. so I have to treat it very mean. I love your alpina, I used to have one in my old garden, there fluffy seed heads are lovely too. My tulips are nearly done now... must plant some later flowering ones for next year.
